FAQs

What is Fiber-To-The-Home and how does it benefit me?

This is fiber optic cable that runs directly from our central office to your home, offering high-speed internet, TV, and other services. Fiber delivers reliable data over long distances with no signal loss. It provides virtually unlimited bandwidth, perfect for streaming, gaming, online education, and more. Plus, having fiber may increase your home’s value by several thousand dollars.

What kind of equipment will I need?

You’ll need an Optical Network Terminal (ONT), which MLGC provides. This converts the fiber signal to power all your services. If you want Wi-Fi, you’ll also need a router. MLGC offers routers for rent with our managed Wi-Fi service, or you can use your own, though we won’t be able to support it.

Do I have to be home when the ONT is installed?

We prefer you be home during installation to guide you through the system and assist with any necessary wiring. We’ll contact you to schedule a convenient time.

What should I expect for construction?

First, we install duct in the ground near your home. After you sign up, we bring fiber to your house, splice the line, and schedule your installation. Flags and paint in your yard mark utilities before we start work.

How long will it take to install?

A basic internet install takes 45-60 minutes. If wiring or additional services are required, it may take longer. We’ll give you a clearer estimate when scheduling.

Do I need to sign an easement?

Yes, we need a signed easement. Our Engineering company will send out an easement to be signed for every property that we need to cross. Once we receive the signed easements for a project area, we can start construction.

Do I need to sign a contract?

You will have the option to sign a contract during the installation inside your home. No contract is required.
